This school year is in serious danger. Crises have hit the education sector, particularly the public one, and students truly "haven't learned anything." Amid the educational crisis, it seems that official exams are also at risk and may be canceled. What will happen to them? According to reports, it is likely that the intermediate certificate will be canceled this year, but "these are just reports and nothing is confirmed yet; the matter is still under discussion and agreement," says the General Director of the Ministry of Education, Imad Ashqar, to MTV. However, students have lost months of their academic year, and teachers continue to insist on striking in the absence of their basic rights. Is it still possible to conduct the exams despite all these obstacles? Ashqar responds: "We are the ones who determine the date for the official exams; they are not fixed and we can postpone them. At the same time, we are still coordinating with the associations to work on restarting the school year. We will ask the teachers for compensation for the days they were on strike and the schools were closed, and when schools reopen, we will set a date." He concludes: "Nothing will be at risk if we return to schools, and God willing, we will reach a point of understanding with the teachers, and everything will become possible." Promises and reassurances have been in place since the beginning of the school year, but the situation on the ground has worsened. It is certain that nothing indicates that the official exams will diverge from the troubled trends in the country.
