Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi confirmed at a press conference today, held in Beijing with his French counterpart Catherine Colonna, that his country maintains friendly and normal relations with all countries, including Iran, Russia, and France. In response to a question about China's stance regarding its relations with Europe, Wang Yi stated, "China's position is clear; we will commit to supporting Europe's strategic independence," noting that "Europe should not fear cooperation with China due to competition."
He further elaborated, saying, "Of course, there will be competition in cooperation, but we should not fear collaboration because of competition. The greatest danger we need to eliminate is the ambiguity brought about by politicizing everything," adding that the dependency that must be reduced quickly involves protectionist policies.
Wang Yi continued, "We will listen to the demands of European companies and seriously address the issues faced by foreign investors in China." He stated, "We believe that by continuously cooperating between China and Europe, there will be no confrontations between the two parties, no global divisions, and no new Cold War." He expressed hope in deepening the traditional cooperation frameworks with France, including civil nuclear energy, space, and exploring other areas such as education and scientific research.
