Media sources tracking the negotiations between Israel and Hamas have revealed that the U.S. proposal for the settlement regarding the exchange deal stipulates the "release of 700 Palestinian prisoners, including 100 with lengthy sentences, in exchange for 40 Israeli detainees." The Israeli broadcasting authority, citing a senior Israeli official, indicated that Israel has agreed to the settlement. It clarified that "Israel's flexibility regarding the number of prisoners came after a mediation proposal by the CIA Director with Qatari and Egyptian mediators during talks in Doha over the weekend." It added: "Israel is willing to consider a gradual return of more than 2,000 Palestinian civilians daily to northern Gaza following the commencement of the hostages' release." According to the authority, the Israeli negotiating delegation proposed the release of 7 Palestinian prisoners from significant names in exchange for each Israeli female soldier in Gaza.
