Iraqi Judiciary Punishes Impersonator of Director General

The Iraqi News Agency "Waa" reported today, Sunday, that the Supreme Judicial Council in Iraq issued judgments against an individual impersonating a Director General who attacked vehicles transporting food supplies. The Karkh Criminal Court also sentenced three convicts to seven years in prison today for the crime of impersonating the owner of a property residing abroad.

The media center of the Supreme Judicial Council stated that "the Karkh Criminal Court issued a seven-year prison sentence against three convicts for the crime of impersonating the owner of a property belonging to a member of the Christian community who is currently in America, forging the transaction, and transferring ownership in the name of one of the defendants and selling it to others."

It added that "the sentence was issued in accordance with the provisions of Article 290 and in light of the participation articles 47, 48, and 49 of the amended Penal Code No. 111 of 1969."
