Minister of Social Affairs in the caretaker government Hektor Hajar received the European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra de Waele, for two hours, where the discussion focused on recent developments in southern Lebanon, as well as a comprehensive review of all the projects supported by the European Union in Lebanon, within the framework of social protection and humanitarian aid for displaced Syrians. During the meeting, Hajar emphasized the "need to reconsider how this support is directed to make it more impactful in local communities, through projects that reflect actual needs, conditional on realistic results aligned with the strategies adopted by the Lebanese state across various sectors." He affirmed that "this requires a new path in the relationship between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the European Union, based on dialogue and increasing the activation of permanent coordination channels."
