Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan announced today, in response to a question regarding the International Court of Justice ruling on the case brought against Israel, that the international community must apply international humanitarian law "to everyone." Prince Faisal, during a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart, stated that Israel must adhere to international law.
For his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry reiterated the call for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that the shared priority for Egypt and Saudi Arabia is the immediate cessation of hostilities and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region. Shoukry noted that Egyptian-Saudi consultations are crucial in light of the developments in the region, pointing out that the ongoing crisis in Gaza "puts the international community at a fundamental crossroads."
He added, "We discussed recent developments in the Red Sea and Yemen and their severe negative implications for regional security, freedom of navigation, and global trade, which are rights and international principles that everyone must abide by." Both sides conducted intensive consultations to develop mechanisms for bilateral cooperation at all political, economic, security, and cultural levels, and to coordinate on international and regional issues, particularly the situation in Gaza, as Israel's war on the territory continues since October 7, according to a statement from the official spokesperson of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
