Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir deemed the implementation of the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners as the "correct solution" to address the issue of prison overcrowding. In a post on the platform "X," Ben Gvir wrote: "I am happy that the government approved my proposal allowing the Israeli army to build 936 (a total of 1,600) additional detention places for security prisoners. The additional construction will allow the prison service to accommodate more terrorists, and it will bring a partial solution to the existing prison crisis within the prison service." He added: "I welcome the fact that most ministers have shown responsibility and leadership on this important issue," asserting that "the death penalty for terrorists is the correct solution to the prison problem... Until then, I am pleased that the government approved my proposal."
