UAE: ADNOC's Efforts Reflect Commitment to Accelerating Emission Reductions

Emirati Energy Minister Suhail Al-Mazrouei confirmed that ADNOC's announcement of its pioneering plan to accelerate emission reduction efforts and bring its climate neutrality target to 2045 instead of 2050 reflects its commitment to speeding up work on reducing emissions from current energy sources and contributing to mitigating the impacts of climate change. The company continues to take significant steps in investing in clean energy sources and future technologies, reinforcing its leading position as a global supplier of low-emission energy.

He noted that as part of the UAE's efforts to achieve climate neutrality, there is a focus on securing a balanced mix of traditional, renewable, and clean energy sources. He stated, "We take pride in being among the leading countries worldwide in implementing and investing in the latest technologies necessary to reduce emissions in the energy sector and enhance its efficiency."

Al-Mazrouei emphasized that as the UAE prepares to host the COP28 conference, we are committed to enhancing and accelerating climate action efforts and working with all international parties and organizations to mitigate the impacts of climate change, reduce emissions, and ensure a sustainable future. He explained that the UAE is among the leading countries in addressing challenges related to climate change and working to reduce emissions, recognizing the significant impact this phenomenon can have on the environment, economy, and society. Therefore, the state adopts comprehensive strategies and programs in this field, most notably the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and the National Hydrogen Strategy 2050.
