The drug "Mounjaro," widely used for weight loss, has shown another benefit in treating obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity, according to the manufacturer. Over time, sleep apnea can lead to other health problems, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and an increased risk of stroke. After conducting two studies on adults with obesity and moderate to severe hyperthyroidism, the makers of "Mounjaro" stated, "It can reduce the number of times people stop breathing while they sleep."
Mounjaro's active ingredient is called "Tirzepatide." It was originally developed as a treatment for type 2 diabetes. It helps individuals feel fuller for longer, making it an effective treatment for obesity when used alongside a healthy diet and regular exercise.
