The media office of the Lebanese Forces party emphasized that "the Lebanese Forces have called and continue to call since the very first moment for the return of Syrian displaced persons to their homes, especially as security in Syria has stabilized, and both regime supporters and opponents can return to areas under the control of the regime and the opposition. Therefore, there is no justification for their continued presence in Lebanon."
The statement asserted that "the demand for the return of Syrian displaced persons has become more urgent, especially after it has become clear the extent of criminal acts that some of them are committing, which disrupt public security. However, the Forces stress that the demand for the return of Syrian displaced persons to their homes is one thing, while acting with hatred and brutality is entirely different. The behaviors we observe on some social media platforms and the practices we witness on the ground are unacceptable on one hand and suspicious in form, content, and timing on the other."
The media office added that "while the Lebanese Forces call on Lebanese authorities to facilitate the return of Syrian refugees to their homes, they also condemn the barbaric assaults that some of them are facing."
