Nicolas Nahas, advisor to the designated President Najib Mikati and former minister, confirmed that "Mikati's efforts are ongoing to prevent Lebanon from sliding into a full-scale war through the communications he is making to urge foreign parties to prompt Israel not to expand the area of clashes." In an interview with "Voice of Lebanon," he revealed that the communication lines between Mikati and Hezbollah are ongoing, adding that "rationality dominates the situation." Nahas also noted that "the army is present on the southern border, and its numbers need to be increased," emphasizing the necessity of implementing Resolution 1701 in its entirety. Regarding the issue of extending the Army Commander’s term, Nahas affirmed that "the file is under review and development, and work is being conducted on two fronts: either through the laws presented in the Parliament or through internal government solutions, while waiting for the situation to become clearer to reach a reasonable and balanced solution that ensures the safety of Lebanon." Nahas expected that a resolution on the matter would be reached before the end of this year.
