FIFA announced today, Thursday, the first monthly ranking of the year 2024. There were no changes in the top ten national teams, with Argentina, the recent World Cup winner, maintaining its first position, followed by France, England, Belgium, Brazil, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Croatia.
FIFA noted on its official account on the "X" platform that "the Moroccan national team remains the top Arab and African team, climbing one spot to 12th globally, followed by Senegal at 17th and Nigeria at 28th, with the Super Eagles jumping 14 places forward, achieving the best rise in the ranking."
Meanwhile, Egypt dropped three spots to 36th, while Ivory Coast climbed ten spots to 39th. Tunisia and Algeria fell to 41st and 43rd places, respectively.
Qatar, which recently won the AFC Asian Cup, jumped 21 places to 37th globally, ranking fifth in Asia, following Japan (18), Iran (20), South Korea (22), and Australia (23). Additionally, the Jordanian team, the runner-up in the AFC Asian Cup, made its way into the top ten in Asia, climbing 17 spots to 70th in the world.
Iraq moved up four spots to 59th, preceded by Saudi Arabia at 53rd after climbing three places. In contrast, the UAE dropped five spots to 69th globally, placing ninth in Asia, while Oman fell six places to 80th worldwide, ranking 11th in Asia.
