Germany and France Collaborate During Euro and Olympic Competitions

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser announced that her country intends to cooperate with France on security issues during the UEFA European Championship "Euro" and the Olympic Games. Faeser indicated that "the security of the European Championship in Germany is a top priority," noting that she has agreed to expand security cooperation with her French counterpart Gérald Darmanin. She added that "German police officers will participate in ensuring security during the Olympic Games in Paris, and French police will assist in the Euro taking place in Germany." She confirmed that German security forces are prepared for various scenarios, whether threats from Islamists or cyber-attacks. The UEFA European Championship will take place in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024, while the Olympic Games in Paris will start on July 26 and continue until August 11.
