Belarusian opposition activist Ihor Lednik has died in prison, where he was serving a sentence for "defaming" President Alexander Lukashenko, as announced today by his former party and a specialized non-governmental organization, in a country that has more than a thousand political prisoners. This political organization stated: "Ihor Lednik, a former member of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada), activist, and journalist, has died in prison at the age of 64," information confirmed by the human rights NGO "Viasna."
