Officials announced that seven people have died, three are missing, and seven others have been injured, while over a thousand have been evacuated in South Korea on Saturday due to heavy rainfall causing landslides and flooding of a dam. The Ministry of Interior and Safety stated that "as of 11 AM (02:00 GMT), 1,567 people have been evacuated across the country." This number is expected to rise after waters flooded a dam in North Chungcheong Province following its capacity being exceeded. Local governments have ordered the evacuation of more than 7,000 people, according to provincial authorities. As of 9 AM, over 2,700 tons of water were flowing per second into the Guisan Dam, which is the maximum amount of water that can be discharged. The Korean Railroad Corporation announced that it "has halted all slow trains and some high-speed trains, while other high-speed trains may be delayed due to slowed operations as landslides, flooding, and falling rocks pose safety hazards." Late on Friday, a train derailed when a landslide dumped dirt and sand onto the railway tracks in North Chungcheong Province, according to the Ministry of Transport. There were no passengers on board, but the train engineer was injured. In a meeting with government agencies on Saturday, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo called on the military to "actively participate in rescue activities by working with government officials to mobilize equipment and manpower."
