Title: Lebanon's Minister of Public Works Emphasizes Ports' Potential as Maritime Transport Corridors

Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Ali Hamieh, and his accompanying delegation, met with the Brazilian delegation participating in the General Assembly of the International Maritime Organization held in London. This meeting occurred alongside the Lebanese ambassador to the UK, Rami Mortada.

During the meeting, Hamieh discussed ways to enhance relations in the ports and maritime transport sectors and the potential benefits of Brazilian expertise in the use of alternative energy in commercial ships. The Minister emphasized that "the friendship between Lebanon and Brazil can be strengthened through areas and sectors that fall within the ministry's purview, particularly in the ports and maritime transport sectors."

He pointed out that "Lebanon's ports have the location and specifications that qualify them to be a station and destination in the maritime transport corridors being drawn globally today." He also noted that "Brazilian expertise in the maritime transport sector, especially in using alternative energy for operating cargo ships, could open avenues for cooperation with Lebanon in this domain, especially due to rising prices of known energy sources."

Both the Lebanese and Brazilian sides agreed to "prepare for meetings at the level of the ministries of both countries and to form technical committees between them to follow up on the discussed files."
