Exercises to Strengthen Memory

Regular cognitive training in adulthood, for 20-30 minutes daily, helps maintain and improve memory. In an interview with "Gazeta.Ru," Professor Irina Roshina from the Department of Neuropsychology and Developmental Psychopathology at the Clinical Psychology Faculty of Moscow University mentioned that "among these exercises is the Fibonacci technique, which involves saying a numerical sequence to oneself, where each new number is the sum of the previous numbers. The Pythagorean technique is also effective. According to the Pythagorean method, in the evening, one should recall all events that occurred throughout the day in detail without disrupting their sequence. Another exercise involves remembering the maximum number of words that start with each letter of the alphabet."

The professor stated, "Mental calculations, solving crosswords, and similar games are also effective in improving memory. Remembering details of past life events enhances memory as well." She added, "Memory is a complex higher mental function. The effectiveness of retention depends on a variety of factors: the person's physical and mental health. Training memory in childhood is of significant importance, and a proper daily routine, along with sleep and nutrition, is also crucial. One should read a lot, summarize what they have read, as well as practice writing by hand, studying foreign languages, and learning and memorizing poems."

The professor recommends regularly practicing these exercises and not abandoning them; only then can the desired results be achieved.
