Reuters reported today, Tuesday, that two sources close to Hezbollah stated that the group will halt its fire on Israel if its ally Hamas agrees to a proposed truce with Israel in Gaza, provided that Israeli forces do not continue to bombard Lebanon. One of the sources close to Hezbollah said, "The moment Hamas announces its acceptance of the truce, and the moment the truce is declared, Hezbollah will commit to the truce and immediately stop its operations in the south, as happened last time." However, the sources indicated that if "Israel continues to bombard Lebanon, Hezbollah will not hesitate to continue fighting." A temporary truce between Hamas and Israel for a week in late November allowed for the exchange of hostages and prisoners and an end to clashes across the Lebanese-Israeli border. Hamas is currently considering a new proposal accepted by Israel during talks with mediators in Paris last week aimed at reaching an agreement to suspend fighting for 40 days, which would be the first extended pause in the ongoing five-month war.
