Washington Reveals Surprise About Israeli Troop Withdrawal from Southern Gaza

A spokesperson for the White House stated on Sunday that the announcement of the "Israeli army" withdrawing from southern Gaza is likely just a "pause" for its forces. John Kirby told ABC News, "From what we understand, based on what they have announced, it is actually a period of rest and recuperation for their (Israeli army) forces who have been on the ground for four months." However, the U.S. official clarified that the Israeli withdrawal is not "necessarily" an indication of an "imminent new operation" by these forces. Israel has pulled all its troops from southern Gaza, including Khan Yunis, according to announcements made by the military and media on Sunday, following months of fierce battles with Hamas, which have led to widespread destruction in the area.
