In recent hours, the Lebanese people have been preoccupied with a painful video showing several nurses in a nursing home terrifying the elderly. The details reveal that a video spread like wildfire on social media on Saturday, depicting nurses at the Islamic Makassed Hospital frightening seniors in various ways, whether through strange sounds or suspicious calls, among others. This has sparked a wave of anger among many Lebanese, who questioned whether this is part of their humanitarian duty during this holy month of Ramadan. Others considered that those referred to as "angels of mercy" seem to have lost the essence of compassion in their hearts.
Amidst this widespread controversy and outrage, the Makassed charitable institution clarified that the incident is old, offering an apology to anyone who was harmed by it. In a statement issued on Saturday afternoon, it stated that "all necessary measures have been taken against the nurses who violated the simplest standards of this noble profession," adding that they have been dismissed from their jobs. The institution promised to take all necessary actions to regulate its nursing staff and hold anyone accountable for violations. Additionally, it pledged to protect its patients and keep them dignified and respected, as expressed in their statement.
