A statement was issued by the President of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, as follows: "If President Nabih Berri wants to reach the election of a new president through consensus, we are fully ready for that. However, consensus should be similar to what happened regarding the extension of the retirement age for the Army Commander and the Director General of the Internal Security Forces, and should only occur through quiet side communications, not through a showy dialogue table, which we have seen many times over the past 15 years, and which has never yielded a single result. If President Berri wants to agree on a president, a real president, then the only way to achieve this consensus is indeed through side consultations."
