The Egyptian Cabinet stated today, Tuesday, that the government will save 1,000 Egyptian pounds annually for each married woman with a maximum of two children, with the accumulated amount being collected when the woman reaches 45 years old. The statement mentioned that Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol between the Ministries of Planning and Economic Development and Finance regarding the monetary incentives program within the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Family.
Egypt's Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, noted that the ministry will save the amount until it is due at the age of 45, emphasizing that the woman's right to claim the accumulated amount will be forfeited if she has a third child. He also explained that each woman would be assessed based on her age at the time of joining the program according to several criteria.
According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, Egypt's population, which is the largest in the Arab world, exceeds 104 million people.
Hala Al-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, indicated that this protocol aims to achieve the goals of the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Family by encouraging women aged 21 to 45 to confront the challenges of population growth.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi launched the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Family in February 2022, aiming to improve demographic characteristics such as education, health, economic empowerment, and culture, in addition to controlling population growth.
