Jordanian Snake Expert: "The Hanish is Black but has a White Heart"

Jordanian Snake Expert:

Jordanian snake expert Hiba Al-Daaja described the slithering animal, Hanish, as black in color but with a white heart, due to its significant role in maintaining environmental balance. Al-Daaja, a lover of snakes and reptile science, stated in remarks to "Al Arabiya.net" that many types of Hanish are spread across the Arab world, and they are non-venomous reptiles that can reach lengths of up to 3 meters.

She explained that while the Hanish may bite occasionally in self-defense, its bite is not venomous and may only cause mild inflammation. She noted that several types of snakes are more dangerous, the most perilous being the black mamba, which has no antidote and is deadly, potentially causing death within 9 to 12 minutes.

Al-Daaja mentioned that the Palestine snake is the most notorious for bites and is spreading rapidly and frighteningly in Jordan. She works to raise awareness among people about reptile science and urges not to kill non-venomous snakes because of their crucial role in environmental balance, as they effectively eliminate venomous snakes and purify surrounding areas.

Additionally, Al-Daaja secures antivenoms for individuals affected by bites from venomous reptiles, after consulting relevant authorities, and she contributes to capturing snakes from homes.
