Local news sites in Morocco circulated reports about a lynx that escaped from a foreign person's home in the city of Tangier in the north of the country. Videos showing the lynx roaming in the "Selouki" forest were widely shared yesterday evening, prompting a significant alert from local authorities. According to specific information published by journalist Said Qadri, the animal filmed next to the forest road is of the feline species, specifically a lynx, and not a tiger, as it managed to escape from its owner's house. Qadri added that "the current age of the animal is estimated to be around two years, and it has been raised in a residence in Tangier for about a year and a half." According to the same source, the lynx does not pose any danger to humans. For their part, sources from within the Tangier-Al Hoceima region urged citizens in the city to remain cautious while wandering near the Selouki forest and to notify authorities immediately upon sighting the animal. Authorities have mobilized their resources, including forestry personnel and wildlife specialists, to locate the lynx and capture it to mitigate any potential risks.
