Thefts Inside Churches and Identification by the Information Branch

An announcement was issued by the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division: "As part of the ongoing efforts of the Internal Security Forces to reduce thefts in various Lebanese regions, and after there has been an increase in recent times of the theft of donation boxes from inside churches in the Mount Lebanon areas, specialized units intensified their field and intelligence measures to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.

As a result of investigations and inquiries, the Information Branch was able to determine the identity of the suspect involved in the aforementioned operations, known as: H. T. (born in 1995, Lebanese) who has a criminal record related to drug offenses, counterfeiting currency, assault, and is wanted for theft.

On 29-2-2024, after monitoring and surveillance, one of the branch patrols managed to arrest him on the Airport Road. Upon searching him, tools used in theft operations and a quantity of hashish were found in his possession. In the investigation, he confessed to the accusations against him regarding thefts from inside churches, and he admitted to drug use. Legal action was taken against him, and he was handed over with the seized items to the relevant authority based on the judiciary's instructions."
