Trump is appearing before a Washington appellate court to argue that he should be granted immunity from prosecution on charges of conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. He is doing everything possible to delay his criminal trials as much as possible, potentially until after the election. Judge Tanya Chutkan, who will preside over the federal trials, rejected an initial request to affirm his immunity in early December, stating that there is no provision protecting a former president from criminal prosecutions. The billionaire, facing charges in four criminal cases and seeking the Republican nomination for the 2024 elections, is set to go to trial on March 4 in connection with his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, which he lost to President Joe Biden.
