The Yemeni government warned about the "repercussions of the attacks by the Ansar Allah group on ships in the Red Sea" which are raising marine shipping costs and increasing food prices in Yemen, along with affecting navigation in the Suez Canal. The Yemeni Minister of Information and Culture, Muammar al-Iryani, stated via his account on the platform "X": "For Yemen, especially in areas under Houthi control, it primarily relies on importing food and consumer goods, importing 80% of its needs through the port of Hodeidah on the Red Sea. The rise in shipping prices and insurance costs will lead to increased food prices in a country suffering from a humanitarian crisis, where the majority of its population depends on food aid due to the conditions of war and the coup." He added: "These attacks threaten to harm the revenues of the Suez Canal, which is a vital lifeline and a main pillar as well as one of the primary sources of income for the Egyptian economy and foreign currency, amidst the economic challenges facing Egypt."
