Saudi authorities announced today, Sunday, the foiling of an attempt to smuggle over one million Captagon pills at the port of Dhiba, which were hidden in a shipment of melons. The pills were concealed in the fruit's cavities and then packaged. They confirmed the arrest of the recipients of the seized shipment within the Kingdom.
Hamoud Al-Harbi, spokesperson for the Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, stated, "The recipients of the seized items were arrested within the Kingdom, and we are on their tail regardless of the methods of smuggling they employ." He added in an interview with Saudi News Channel: "We have a strategy focused on intercepting any smuggling attempts and enhancing security to protect our community from the perpetrators of these attempts."
He pointed out that the smuggling of these items was thwarted in cooperation with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control. Hamoud affirmed, "We are committed to tightening customs oversight on the Kingdom's imports and exports to ensure community safety and protect it from these scourges."
