The Egyptian national team was crowned champion of the 25th edition of the Arab basketball tournament after defeating their Libyan counterpart by a margin of 25 points (62/87) in the final match held this evening at the Cairo Stadium's hall complex. The first half saw a tight contest, ending with Egypt ahead by one point (39/38); however, the Libyan defense collapsed thereafter due to consecutive penetrations and three-point shots, with 11 successful attempts out of 36 from beyond the arc amid the cheers of the large Egyptian crowd.
Following the match, Dr. Ashraf Al-Bijarmi, representing the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, and Dr. Magdy Abu Freikha, Vice President of the Arab Federation and President of the Egyptian Federation, honored the champion team. Abdel Rahman Al-Mas'ad, Vice President of the Arab Federation, and Ali Al-Barti, Vice President of the Arab Federation and President of the Tunisian University, presented awards to the Libyan team, which secured second place. Bronze medals were awarded by Hassan Youssef, Vice President of the Sudanese Federation and member of the Arab Federation Board, and Rehab Al-Ghanam, a member of both the Arab and Egyptian Federations. Additionally, Brigadier Abdullah Shalabi, Secretary-General of the Arab Federation, honored the tournament referees.
In terms of tournament stars, Egyptian player Youssef Shehata received the award for the best three-point shooter, Christian from the UAE was named the top scorer, and Omar Abada from Tunisia was awarded the title of best player.
