The organizing committee for the 33rd Dubai International Basketball Championship received confirmation from the Syrian club Al-Wahda to participate, increasing the number of teams to 12. The teams include the UAE national team, Al-Nasr (the host team), the defending champions Al-Riyadi, Beirut (the Arab champions), Al-Hikma, and Al-Homeyton from Lebanon, along with the Tunisian national team, Salé from Morocco, Ahli Tripoli, Ahli Benghazi, Al-Wahda from Syria, and Strong Group from the Philippines, supported by American basketball legend Dwight Howard of the Los Angeles Lakers. Lieutenant General Ismail Al-Qirqaawi, President of the Arab and Emirati Basketball Federations and head of the organizing committee, has been following the latest updates on the championship, which will commence next Friday at the Rashid Bin Hamdan Hall at Al-Nasr Club. He praised the efforts made by the organizing committee and the event management company, represented by its president Awad Sami. Additionally, the organizing committee and sponsoring companies will hold a meeting next Wednesday at the Occidental Hotel in Al-Jaddaf, Dubai, during which the distribution of teams into two groups and the championship schedule will be announced.
