The Iraqi News Agency reported today, Wednesday, that "Iraq has signed an agreement with Siemens Energy to convert associated gas produced during oil extraction into fuel for electricity generation." It added that the agreement covers about 120 million standard cubic feet of gas over a period of six months and an additional 120 million during the year. The agreement is part of a broader campaign in Iraq to capture and utilize gas that is flared during oil extraction.
