Egypt: Prosecutor Investigates

The Egyptian Public Prosecutor, Hamada El-Sawy, has ordered an investigation into the posts circulating on social media attributed to "The Egyptian Prince," which allegedly include contempt for Christianity. According to a statement published by the Public Prosecution on their Facebook page, the statement management unit in the Office of the Public Prosecutor observed the circulation of posts and videos on various social media platforms from multiple accounts featuring a person nicknamed "The Egyptian Prince." These posts reportedly involved the commission of several crimes, including the exploitation of religion to promote extremist ideas aimed at inciting sedition and contempt for the Christian faith and Christian brothers, as well as harming national unity.

Additionally, the statement noted, "The statement management unit prepared a detailed report on the circulated clips across all social media platforms and has retained evidence contained in these clips against the perpetrator of these crimes. Upon presenting this to the Public Prosecutor, an order was issued for urgent investigative procedures in the matter." It is noteworthy that social media in Egypt has recently seen an increase in hashtags calling for the arrest of the individual appearing on TikTok as "The Egyptian Prince" due to the offensive videos he produces against Christianity.
