Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halifi confirmed today, Tuesday, that the war being waged by Israel against Hamas in Gaza is likely to continue for several months. Halifi stated to reporters in a televised statement from the Gaza border that "there are no quick ways to dismantle a terrorist organization... we will target Hamas leaders."
He refrained from commenting on a question regarding the Israeli strike that resulted in the death of a senior adviser in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in Syria, but noted that Israeli forces are operating throughout the region. When asked about the strike, Halifi told reporters near Gaza, "I will not comment on the various operations we undertake. The Israeli army works with other security organizations throughout the Middle East, within the state's borders, and in the vicinity of its borders." He added, "We are taking all necessary measures to make it very clear that we are very determined to defend the country and are prepared to do more."
