The statement added: "During a trilateral meeting in Tokyo, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and his counterparts discussed North Korea's illegal nuclear and missile programs and its latest provocations, and identified the next steps to enhance their cooperation." The statement noted that "our trilateral partnership is now stronger, and its potential is greater than ever." It also highlighted that "technology issues, energy security, and confronting economic coercion were discussed." Regarding China, the statement mentioned that Sullivan, Japanese National Security Advisor Akiba Takiyu, and South Korean National Security Advisor Cho Tae-young "discussed opportunities for coordination in the East China Sea and the South China Sea, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait."
