The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the United Nations Security Council's decision that calls for urgent steps to allow for the immediate, expanded, safe, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and to prepare the necessary conditions for a sustainable ceasefire.
The Saudi Foreign Affairs expressed hope in its statement that this decision would represent a step in the right direction towards achieving a comprehensive halt to military operations and protecting civilians in Gaza.
The ministry called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and to put an immediate end to the systematic violations committed by the Israeli occupation authorities against defenseless civilians, including killings and forced displacement, which violate international law and humanitarian law.
On Friday, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution establishing a UN mechanism to expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Thirteen countries supported the resolution proposed by the UAE, while both the United States and Russia abstained from voting. No country voted against the resolution, allowing it to pass.
