Following remarks by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski regarding the possibility of sending NATO troops to Ukraine, and the recent controversy surrounding the presence of NATO personnel and advisors on Ukrainian territory, the Kremlin confirmed it possesses reliable information in this regard. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated today that Russian security agencies have long been aware of NATO advisors in Ukraine.
Peskov's comments came in response to Polish media reports about NATO soldiers actually being on Ukrainian soil, according to Reuters. This also followed the Polish Foreign Minister's announcement that the presence of NATO forces in Ukraine is a "possibility," and he expressed appreciation for French President Emmanuel Macron not ruling out this idea. Radoslaw Sikorski made these statements during a discussion marking the 25th anniversary of Poland's membership in NATO in the Polish parliament last Friday, with the Foreign Ministry later broadcasting the comments on X in English.
Last month, President Macron stated that the potential for sending Western troops to Ukraine cannot be ruled out, a remark that sparked outrage among other leaders. However, French officials later sought to clarify Macron's statements and mitigate the intense reactions, while insisting on the necessity of sending a clear signal to Russia that it cannot succeed in its war against Ukraine. The Kremlin warned that if NATO sends combat troops, direct conflict between the alliance and Russia would be unavoidable.
