Media sources reported that the critical situation in Lebanon will be among the topics discussed in the French-Qatari talks between President Emmanuel Macron and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is visiting France this Tuesday and Wednesday. A source from the French presidency noted that Paris believes the presidential vacancy in Lebanon has persisted for too long and that efforts must continue. France is engaging with its international partners, including Qatar, concerning Lebanon.
The French source revealed that the current crisis in the Middle East and the risks of escalating war will also be on the agenda of the French-Qatari discussions. To this end, Paris is intensifying its efforts to prevent conflict in the region, especially in Lebanon. Several messages were conveyed through its envoys, including the French Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Defense, to both the Lebanese and Israeli sides, urging them to avoid war.
The source added that these messages have also been conveyed to Iran at the highest levels, expecting that the discussions between Macron and the Emir of Qatar will include the postponed conference to support the Lebanese army, recalling Qatar's supportive stance and the assistance it has provided to the Lebanese Armed Forces.
