Seventeen people were killed and 41 were injured in a truck accident in southwestern Pakistan on Wednesday evening, while they were on their way to a religious site for Eid al-Fitr, officials reported on Thursday. The incident occurred around 10:00 PM local time (5:00 PM GMT) in the Hab area of Balochistan province, according to regional official Munir Ahmed. He stated, "The truck was speeding and lost control at a turn," plunging into a ravine in a mountainous area as it approached the religious site. Ahmed added that "the driver jumped from the truck and survived." He explained that the passengers were "pilgrims who had departed from Sindh and were heading to the Shah Noorani shrine in Hab," southern Pakistan. He noted that "the accident occurred 170 kilometers from Hab in a rugged area, and the injured were transported to Karachi."
