Libyan security authorities have arrested the popular artist Fatima Al-Trabelsia, known as "Al-Hamisa," following the circulation of a video of her performing a song that has stirred controversy among Libyans and has been described as "encouraging immorality." The Stabilization Support Agency, part of the Interior Ministry, stated that "Al-Hamisa" was apprehended for committing a crime that violates public morals, emphasizing their commitment to preserving the good morals that characterize Libyan society, and asserting that they will take a strong stance against anyone attempting to undermine morals and values.

The agency added, in a statement on Wednesday evening, that it would take the necessary legal actions against this artist, considering the act committed to be a criminal offense. A wave of widespread anger has erupted on social media in Libya over the past hours after a video circulated showing artist Fatima Al-Trabelsia singing at a wedding and dancing to a song whose lyrics many Libyans believe encourage moral decay, marital infidelity, and illegitimate relationships, calling for family disintegration.

Libyan activist Izzat Al-Rais considered the lyrics of the song to be "dangerous as the artist encourages young girls to engage in debauchery and immorality," calling for her arrest and accountability. It is worth noting that Fatima Al-Trabelsia, known for singing at wedding parties, was previously arrested in 2017 by the Deterrence Force while driving her car on the coastal road in the capital, Tripoli, on charges of possessing prohibited materials.
