4800 Illuminated Formations Adorn Abu Dhabi and Its Surrounding Cities

The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City has completed the installation of 4,800 illuminated geometric formations to decorate the streets of Abu Dhabi Island and the surrounding cities within the municipality's geographic scope and its sub-centers. This initiative aims to engage the community in celebrating the 52nd National Union Day. Municipal teams worked on installing thousands of illuminated formations in many main streets, roundabouts, and bridges inside and outside Abu Dhabi Island, with notable locations including Abu Dhabi Corniche, as well as major external highways such as the Al Gharbia Street, Sheikh Zayed Road, and the Airport Road, in addition to the surrounding cities within the municipality.

The designs of the decorative pieces are diverse and harmonious, forming complete illuminated artworks that embody national meanings and the spirit of union, celebrating the joy of the people of the UAE and residents on National Day. The formations include 120 ground-level three-dimensional figures, 120 suspended three-dimensional figures, and 1,500 figures representing the number "52" to indicate the number of years of the union, along with 320 suspended light cables arranged like curtains of light decorating many streets and bridges.

This year's decorations feature three-dimensional white figures with thin green lines, vertically moving lights in the colors of the UAE flag (red, green, and white), as well as thousands of flashing light units installed on the illuminated geometric figures. The illuminated artworks portray many phrases and sentences that express the significance of this cherished event, characterized by a variety of celebratory texts and words, alongside formations representing the country's logo and flag, as well as elements of Emirati heritage such as falcons, horses, historic buildings, and castles.
