Grandmaster John Khoury has been elected as the President of the Australian Taekwondo Federation for another three-year term. Khoury, a champion in the sport with multiple titles and an 8th Dan black belt, was re-elected to the board of the Australian federation after winning in six states. At 58 years old, Khoury holds both Australian and Lebanese citizenship and hails from the town of Shrin in northern Metn, having migrated to Australia over three decades ago. Khoury previously led the Australian federation for a year and a half succeeding former president Grandmaster Hassan Iskander. After his election, Khoury thanked Iskander for his ongoing support and reached out to the President of the Lebanese Taekwondo Federation, Dr. Habib Zreifeh, who congratulated him on his re-election, emphasizing the strong friendship and special relationship between the Australian and Lebanese federations. It is notable that Khoury will head the Australian taekwondo team during the summer Olympics slated to take place next year in Paris, France.
