Russian news agencies reported on Sunday that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un departed on a train from the railway station in the city of Artyom in far eastern Russia, concluding his visit there. The distance from Artyom to the Khasan station at the Russian border with North Korea exceeds 200 kilometers. The Russian state media agency published a video showing Kim, who rarely leaves his country, walking down a red carpet towards the train carriage accompanied by military band music while waving goodbye.
The Russian media agency noted that Russian Minister of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov, Moscow's ambassador to North Korea Alexander Matsegora, and Primorye Governor Oleg Kozhemyako were present to bid farewell to the North Korean leader. Earlier, Russian media reported that Kim and the Russian defense minister discussed practical matters to enhance military cooperation, which Pyongyang described as representing a "new peak" in bilateral relations. During his week-long visit to Russia, Kim met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday to discuss military issues, the war in Ukraine, and enhanced cooperation.
