The UAE and Azerbaijan signed a memorandum of understanding for parliamentary cooperation between the two countries on Friday. This occurred during a meeting between Dr. Tariq Hamid Al-Tayer, the First Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council and head of the UAE parliamentary group in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, and the Speaker of the Azerbaijan Parliament, Sahiba Gafarova, on the sidelines of the assembly meetings held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku. During the meeting, ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two countries were discussed, and the importance of continuing to hold friendship committee meetings between the parliaments was emphasized. The memorandum aims to framework the parliamentary cooperation between both sides and coordinate in regional and international parliamentary forums on issues of common interest.
