Social media users launched a fierce attack on artist Tamer Hosny on the first day of Ramadan after the airing of an advertisement he presented for a food products company, which many are boycotting due to its support for Israel. In the advertisement, Tamer Hosny appeared imitating the "msaharati" (a person who wakes people for suhoor), and along with several stars, he performed a dance song featuring scenes from Ramadan in the Egyptian streets. More than a million people unfollowed Hosny on social media, while others discussed the exorbitant fee Tamer allegedly received for the advertisement, rumored to be around one million dollars.
