Bayer Leverkusen Maintains Bundesliga Lead

Nathan Tella scored twice, leading Bayer Leverkusen to a 2-0 victory over Darmstadt today, Saturday, and maintaining their position at the top of the Bundesliga with a two-point lead over Bayern Munich, ahead of the anticipated clash between the two teams next week. Leverkusen took the lead in the 33rd minute when Alejandro Grimaldo passed the ball to the unmarked Tella, who found the net. Leverkusen could have added at least one more goal in the first half but missed several good chances, one of which fell to the new signing Borja Iglesias in the 41st minute. Nigerian international Tella strengthened Leverkusen's advantage with a second goal in the 52nd minute with an assist from Florian Wirtz, marking his fourth goal in the league. Bayer Leverkusen, who have not suffered any defeats this season across all competitions, increased their tally to 52 points at the top, two points ahead of Bayern Munich, who won 3-1 against Borussia Mönchengladbach in another match today.
