The Carthage International Festival launched its fifty-seventh edition on Friday evening with a musical dance show titled "Mahfel" by Tunisian artist Mohammed Al-Fadhil Al-Jaziri, featuring nearly 120 artists. The performance is a joint production between the Djerba Arts Center and the Opera Theatre in the City of Culture, with prominent participants including Nour Chiba, Zahra Al-Ajnif, Amina Al-Jaziri, Yahya Al-Jaziri, Nidal Al-Yahyaoui, Mohammed Al-Aidi, and Mohammed Ali Shbeil.
Before the opening, Al-Fadhil Al-Jaziri stated that the show "Mahfel" reconstructs the rituals of Bedouin weddings in various regions of Tunisia, emphasizing this intangible heritage with a contemporary vision while blending traditional and modern instruments.
The festival's program, which extends until August 19, includes concerts by a number of stars such as Lebanese artist Ragheb Alama, Algerian Suad Massi, Syrian Nasif Zaitoun, Tunisian Saber Al-Rubai, and Egyptian Mohamed Hamaki. The program also features a joint evening with the Turkish group "Taksim Trio" and the Palestinian group "Triy Al-Jibran," as well as an African night with Nigerian singer Yami Alaid and Ivorian singer Tiken Jah Fakoly.
The summer season in Tunisia is filled with a series of artistic festivals featuring local and international artists, including the Hammamet International Festival which kicked off earlier this month, as well as the Sfax International Festival, Sousse International Festival, and Nabeul International Festival.
