A famous American YouTuber was kidnapped in Haiti by a gang while attempting to interview the country's most notorious gang leader. The American newspaper "New York Post" reported that Addison Pierre Maalouf, known online as "YourFellowArab," traveled from his home in Atlanta to conduct an interview with the infamous gang leader of "G9 and Family," Jimmy "Barbecue" Cherizer.
It added: "However, just 24 hours after his arrival in the country, Maalouf and his Haitian colleague were kidnapped by members of the 400 Mawozo gang on March 14." The leader of this gang, known as "Kingpin Lanmò Sanjou," is listed on the FBI's Most Wanted list. The source noted that Maalouf, of Lebanese descent, is being held for a ransom of $600,000.
A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs told the British newspaper "The Sun": "The safety and security of U.S. citizens abroad is the highest priority for the State Department and our embassies and consulates." They added: "We are aware of reports regarding the kidnapping of an American citizen in Haiti... and we reiterate our message to American citizens: do not travel there." Maalouf is known for posting videos investigating the ins and outs of criminals and gangs around the world, boasting nearly 1.5 million subscribers on his YouTube channel.
