The draw for the "SNAPS School Championship for Boys" and the "Visa Card School Championship for Girls" for the year 2024 was conducted, organized by the Lebanese Basketball Federation for the second consecutive year. The draw took place at the "Antoine Choueiri" basketball headquarters in the presence of Akram Halabi, the First Vice President of the Asian Federation and President of the Lebanese Basketball Federation, along with Secretary General Attorney Charbel Michel Rizk, members of the organizing committee, and representatives of the participating schools.
Halabi opened with a welcoming speech emphasizing that the federal school championship is part of the marketing strategy for basketball, the most popular sport in Lebanon, and aligns with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) plan to promote and develop the sport in schools and among the younger generation to produce future champions. He noted that 51 schools would participate in the boys' championship while 32 schools would take part in the girls' championship, thanking "SNAPS" and "Visa Card" for their sponsorship and "Kerry" for their contribution.
He also mentioned that the "Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International" would cover the championship, broadcasting the final live. Organizing committee members Faraj A'ad and Tawfik Kurban explained the championship system, rules, and the distribution of the boys' championship across 13 groups and the girls' championship across eight groups. International referee Ziad Tanous addressed the officiating aspects related to both championships. Rizk indicated that the federation decided not to impose a subscription fee to encourage participation and avoid placing a burden on schools and students.
Finally, Halabi and Rizk answered questions and inquiries from the clubs' representatives, followed by the actual draw for both championships.
