Dr. Polina Vasilieva, a nutrition expert, announced that consuming 100 grams of turkey meat only covers 25 percent of the daily protein needs of the body. The expert states in an interview with Gazeta.Ru: "If a person consumes 100 grams of turkey meat, they meet a quarter of their protein needs, while 100 grams of fish covers one-fifth of the body's requirement. Moreover, 100 grams of soybeans cover one-third of the body's protein needs. These standards are for an average adult."
The expert points out that numerous studies have proven that the ideal protein requirement for the body is no less than 85-90 grams per day. Protein consumption increases during psychological stress, illness, intense physical activity, and among women during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Protein is considered the main building block of the body, and life, growth, and development are impossible without it. Animal products are rich in protein: meats, dairy products, chicken eggs, and fish.
Plant-based protein sources include oats, rye, rice, and soybeans, but these are not easily absorbed by the body, although they are important for a balanced diet. Anyone can get enough protein from animal products, but it is preferable for animal protein to constitute 50 percent of the daily diet, with the other half comprising plant proteins.
She states: "The body absorbs animal proteins well, but their use in nutrition is limited due to their high content of saturated fats and cholesterol, which negatively affects the heart and blood vessels. Additionally, when cooking meat products, substances are formed that may cause cancer."
