European Film Days Return to Tunisia After Nearly 10 Years

The European Film Days in Tunisia are returning after nearly ten years, serving as a common platform to highlight the diversity of perspectives from European filmmakers and to exchange experiences between the North and South of the Mediterranean. This year's edition, taking place from November 23 to 30, will feature 30 films that have won prestigious awards at international festivals from 22 EU member states. The last edition of this cinematic event, organized by the EU Delegation in Tunisia in coordination with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, was held in 2014.

This year's program includes participation from several cultural centers and institutes of EU member states in Tunisia, such as the French Cultural Institute, Goethe Institute, Italian Cultural Institute, and Cervantes Institute. Film screenings will take place in several Tunisian cities, including the capital Tunis, Kef, Bizerte, and Monastir, in venues such as ABC Cinema, Rio Cinema, Madar Cinema, Metropolis Cinema, Kef’s Pocket Theatre, and the Arts Center.

Mohamed Zaghl, the media and communication officer at the EU Delegation in Tunisia, told Reuters that the opening will occur tomorrow evening in Tunis without any festive activities. He added that the program includes welcoming participants, speeches by the EU Ambassador to Tunisia and the Spanish Ambassador to Tunisia, a screening of the festival's promotional video, and the screening of the Spanish film "The Olive Tree," directed by Iciar Bollain and starring Anna Castillo, Javier Gutiérrez, and Pep Ambrós.
